HOW DOES THIS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM WORK?
The “CITY.MD” radio network communication system is based on the newest radio equipment of world manufacturers representing a radio interface that allows uniting separate computers and other local networks by creating high-speed radiofrequency connections.
The work of a wireless system can be regarded as based on the principle “Base station - client”. The antennas of “CITY.MD” base stations are placed on high buildings and services, towards which the user antennas are directed. The antennas have to be in line of sight of each other, that is why the choice of place for the user’s antenna depends on the user’s location and the nearest base station location. The user antennas are placed on building walls or roofs; they are connected by cable to radiofrequency equipment connected to the existing local user network or directly to the personal computer.
After installing radio connection between the base station and user kit and complete user identification there is installed a data transmission channel and the user becomes a full-fledged member of “CITY.MD” computer network. The connection to the base station is installed ONLY via radio connection; this is why THERE IS NO NEED of additional equipment like modems etc. The radio equipment works on high frequency, allows supporting the connection in any weather and ensures the connection speed at Ethernet local networks standard level, which considerably exceeds the work speed on switched channels via modem connections. This, in its turn, allows the users to pass to a totally different category of users that have access both to their own network resources and different archive data, “live” sound and video, videoconferences etc, as well as Internet at the best quality level. The quantity and quality of the services offered depend only on Your choice and will not depend on technical aspects of Your modem and telephone line any more.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THIS COMUNICATION MEANS?
1. Connection to “CITY.MD” network via radio connection is a high-speed one. With medium speed of common modem connections of 1-16Mbps, radio interface connections allow to increase the speed of the user channel up to 100 Mbps. This speed is several times higher than the speed of common modems and allows using software and applications crucial for delays in connection channel, such as on-line games, transmission of “live” sound and video, video conferences and IP-telephony.
2. Connection to “CITY.MD” network via radio connection is a permanent one. Once connected to the network as the user of “CITY.MD” network, You get permanent access to the network that can be ended only according to Your own will. You are provided a 3-year guarantee and 99% failure-resistance, which ensure You that the equipment will be quicker replaced as an outdated one than because of failure. The equipment is tested for workability at a wide range of temperature and power, recognized suitable for non-stop work in the conditions of the Republic of Moldova. With a proper installation and settings, atmospheric precipitations don’t have any influence on workability of the system, which guarantees the necessary connection quality.

Permanent connection gives the users the possibility to install their own servers for mail and WWW pages, which greatly facilitates and reduces the cost of these network resources.

From now on, your computer will not be busy with Your computer, trying to connect to the Internet, and You will have non-stop connection to the network and You will be able to get the e-mail in any time of the day or contact Your distant relatives in America or Australia. Your connection to the network and Internet will not be influenced by the relations with a third party; such annoying factors like rains that filled the wells with telephone cables and that damage the connection, bad modems or systematic resetting of telephone lines in order to prevent pending of “forgotten” channels.
4. Connection to “CITY.MD” network via radio connection is economically profitable.
The biggest amount of payments for Internet consists of bills for using the telephone line. Looking more closely, apparently small tariffs turn into sums that several times exceed the cost of direct use of the Internet channel. Tariffs policy of “CITY.MD” network administration allows more flexibly choosing a suitable work scheme for every user; almost the entire cost for subscription is used for paying “CITY.MD” services, but not for telecommunication to it.

ORiNOCO PC Card (also known as WaveLAN Turbo 11) wireless network adapter is the basic equipment that ensures communication between the user and the Base station. ORiNOCO is a series of wireless network communication products of the leading manufacturer in this equipment field, Lucent Technologies Company, USA.

WHERE IS IT POSSIBILE TO GET ACCESS TO THE NETWORK?
Radio zone entirely covers Chishinau and neighbouring villages with average radio bandwidth 11-100Mbps. The average radio bandwidth zone spreads over 10-20km from Chishinau and allows connecting remote users outside Chishinau.
“CITY.MD” radio network has subsidiaries in other districts of the republic and it is being constantly extended, seeking to cover all the territory of the Republic of Moldova, which will allow the users benefit from the network services regardless of their location or on the road.

HOW TO BECOME A CITY USER?
Individual users, organizations and enterprises with their already existing local networks can become users of “CITY.MD” radio network.
For an easy differentiation, the users of “CITY.MD” radio network are unified by city.md domain and the local individual networks are unified by user.md. E-mail and WWW-server addresses of the Users are distributed in these domains.
To get connected to the “CITY.MD” radio network we elaborated the following procedure:
1. Reception of either a written or oral application to perform the connection to “CITY.MD” radio network, indicating the exact address of connection and contact details to get in touch with the Client.
2. Visit of an expert to the location to study radiofrequency situation in the region.
3. Conclusions of the expert regarding connection means and methods, elaboration of possible recommendations to the User on organizing some activities to get ready for connection to the “CITY.MD” network.
4. Signing of a service and invoicing contract.
5. The User organizes the recommended activities, pays for installation, connection, equipment deposit and user charge.
6. The Provider installs out-door and in-door communication equipment and software; customizes it and registers the connection to “CITY.MD” network. Signs additional Contract supplements.
7. Commission of the communications channel.
